Have you received a Marine Corps Letter of Reprimand (LOR)? Military Justice Guides is here to help. Purchase our Marine Corps LOR Response Template to write and submit a persuasive response.
Letters of Reprimand (“LORs”) are administrative documents that go in the member’s service record to create a permanent record of counseling and guidance because of a service member’s substandard performance of duty.
An LOR must contain the following information: (i) description of specific weaknesses, (ii) recommendations for suitable and reasonable measures for improvement, (iii) a clear description of the desired performance standard, and (iv) a reasonable period of time for correction of the performance deficiency, if appropriate. The LOR must be delivered at the time of the counseling and the Marine should acknowledge receipt in writing. Typically, a Marine is afforded the right to respond in writing to an LOR.
When you receive an LOR, you are entitled to submit a written response. Your written response becomes a part of the official record, so it is important that you submit a professional, respectful, and persuasive response.
